Common Types Of Embroidered Patches
Embroidered patches are decorative labels created by embroidering colored threads onto a fabric base. By varying colors, stitches, and embroidery density, they can represent brand logos, text, patterns, and badges. They are generally categorized into three types: fully embroidered, 3D, and a combination of embroidery and printing. See the images below for reference:
Partial Embroidery
Partial embroidery refers to an embroidery technique that involves embroidering only a designated area of a product, rather than covering the entire surface with embroidery. It is relatively cheaper than full embroidery.
Full Embroidery Patches
The entire pattern area is covered with embroidery thread, with rich texture and strong three-dimensional effect, making it suitable for complex logos.
3D Puff Embroidery Patches
By adding a fill layer, the embroidered area is made to appear raised, creating a distinct 3D visual effect that better highlights the brand logo and adds a street-style vibe.
Methods For Fixing Embroidered Patches
Sew-On Backing
Sewing is the most traditional and secure method for securing embroidered patches. The patch is sewn directly onto the garment or fabric surface using needle and thread. It provides a strong, durable hold, supports long-term use and frequent washing, and is unaffected by temperature.

Velcro Backing
The patch features a Velcro backing structure for quick and easy installation and removal. Basic structure:

Iron-On Backing
A hot melt adhesive film is added to the back of the embroidered patch, which is then fixed to the fabric surface by heat pressing or ironing. It takes approximately 10-20 seconds using a household iron or hot press. Installation is quick and easy, requiring no sewing.

• Note: For products subject to high friction or frequent washing, it is recommended to add sewing for fixation.
Adhesive Backing
Add double-sided adhesive or pressure-sensitive adhesive to the back of the embroidered patch, then peel off the protective film to attach. Quick installation, no tools required, suitable for temporary applications.
• Applications: Event badges, exhibition supplies, gift wrapping, temporary decorations
• Note: Adhesive-backed patches cannot be used permanently and may detach.
Pin Backing
Attach a metal pin to the back of the embroidered patch to create a wearable badge. It can be easily attached to backpacks, clothing, or hats simply by opening and closing the pin. Removal is easy and does not damage the fabric.
