Woven Label Materials
Polyester is the most common material for woven labels, created by weaving polyester warp and weft yarns. Other common materials include cotton (suitable for infant/children’s clothing and underwear), nylon (for outdoor gear and footwear), and blends (combinations of polyester, cotton, and nylon).
Because polyester woven labels are durable, washable, and resistant to fading, the high-density and satin-finish labels we frequently see—as well as those used by most brands—are made of polyester.

Manufacturing Process for Woven Label Designs
- 1. Jacquard Weaving – Text, logos, and patterns are created by interlacing warp and weft yarns of different colors.
- 2. High-Density Weaving – Increased yarn density ensures sharper edges for text, fine lines, and intricate patterns.
- 3. Satin Weaving – Uses a satin weave structure to create a smooth, glossy surface, into which text or logos are woven.
- 4. Taffeta Weaving – A simpler plain weave structure with a matte finish and relatively lower weaving density.
- 5. Screen Printing – Ink is printed onto the surface of pre-made blank webbing or woven labels.
- 6. Heat Transfer / Sublimation Printing – Designs are transferred onto the surface of polyester labels using heat and pressure.
- 7. Digital Printing – Full-color designs are printed directly onto the surface of labels or webbing.
- 8. Foil Stamping – Gold, silver, or colored foil is transferred onto the label surface using heat and pressure.
